The Goulbourn Jubilee Singers is a non-auditioned community choir offering a wide variety of music and a fun time singing. We have options for anyone aged 8 to 88 (or more) who wants to sing in harmony:
- Goulbourn Jubilee Singers (GJS) for adults 16 and older
- Junior Jubilees (JJs) for children 8-13
- GJS Teens for teens 13 to 16
In 2013 we launched an initiative to create our first CD. We were encouraged by the many reasons our members sing and embarked on recording “Why We Sing”. It was released at our Spring 2014 concert. On the CD you will find a wonderful variety of music sung by dedicated people who invested many hours to produce a great sound.
Our 40th anniversary celebrations continue at our May 6 & 7 concerts at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Stittsville (see upcoming events) where we will be joined by ‘Command Performance’ from Picton. We will be premiering 3 new compositions by Canadian musicians. We are held silent auctions at each concert. We thank all the donators and bidders who enjoyed the wide variety of items including a quilt, telescope, tour of an equine eventing facility, gift certificates from local businesses, toys and much more.
On May 14 we will be travelling to Picton to join ‘Command Performance’ at their Sesquicentennial Concert at the Regent Theatre. Our Junior Jubilees are guest performing artists with the Goulbourn Male Chorus on April 30 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. On May 27, we will be participating in the Kanata Canada 150 celebration at the Earl of March school.
Join us at any or all of these concerts, all featuring Canadian music to celebrate the country’s 150th birthday!
40th Anniversary Music Trivia Event
Thanks to everyone who joined us on Sunday April 2 for an afternoon of trivia at the Kanata Sports Club. In honour of our 40th anniversary, we had 10 categories of music trivia. It was a successful fund-raiser and we hope to partner with the Kanata Sports Club for another trivia event next year.
